2 Ways to Manually Install OxygenOS OTA updates on OnePlus 5

OnePlus OTA software updates are initially released to a tiny portion of users, then and then a larger release that is carried out in stages after receiving feedback from users.   • Make sure you download the right OTA file for your device.
  • Backup your important data (Advisable)
  • Make sure that your phone is fully charged

Method 1: installing the OTA update on the OnePlus 5 using the Local upgrade option

  1. Get the latest official OTA update for your device.
  2. Download the Zip file to your internal storage of the phone.
  3. Navigate to System Updates > Settings, then click on the gear icon in the top of the right-hand corner.
  4. Choose “Local upgrade” and choose the OTA zip file that was downloaded at step 2.
  5. Click to “Upgrade now”.
  6. The process will start and the phone will reboot automatically after the update.

Method 2. Installing the OTA upgrade on your OnePlus 5 using Stock recovery

  1. Get the latest official OTA update for your device.
  2. Transfer the downloaded file to your phone’s storage.
  3. Turn on Developer options, and then off”Advanced Reboot” option “Advanced reboot” option.
  4. Then press the power button and then tap Reboot then Recovery.
  5. When in recovery mode, choose English and select “Install from internal storage”. After that, browse to the appropriate directory and choose the zip file that you downloaded in step 2. Then wait for the installation to finish.
  6. Return to the menu and select “Wipe Cache”. Reboot
