Updating Galaxy Nexus to Android 4.1.1 Final (JRO03C) from 4.0.4/4.1 on Takju & Yakju

Google is now officially announced the release of the last Android 4.1.1 OTA update for its flagship phone, Samsung Galaxy Nexus with GSM/HSPA+. The final version, 4.1.1 with JRO03C build number, is an update to the just released Google Android 4.1 JRN84D update, which was a pre-release. Galaxy Nexus users might get the 4.1.1 Jelly Bean OTA update in the coming days, and it could be longer dependent on the device’s version. If you’re Galaxy Nexus is running takjurunning Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) or Android 4.1 (JB preview) then you can manually download the latest 4.1.1 update right now!

Requirements –

1. GSM/HSPA+ Galaxy Nexus with product version “takju” (IMM76I or JRN84D). 2. Your phone should run Official Stock firmware and Not an ROM that you have created.

3. The device should have an unlocked Bootloader (How to unlock the Bootloader)

4. ClockworkMod (CWM) Custom recovery installed

5. The phone must be rooted

  • To verify the build number Go into Settings > About Phone.

Backup your device first – (Recommended)

In this procedure the device will be erased however, all your files like photos, music and videos will remain. Be sure to make an Nandroid Backup to your device’s firmware prior to starting this guide. Also, backup the data and apps on your Galaxy Nexus Apps & Data because you can restore them following a new install of Android 4.1.1.

Tutorial Update the Galaxy Nexus starting from Takju 4.0.4 (IMM76I) up to 4.1.1 (JRO03C)

1. Download takju-JRO03C-from-IMM76I OTA Update (CWM Flashable Zip).

2. Transfer the 5c416e9cf57f.signed-takju-JRO03C-from-IMM76I.5c416e9c.zip file to the root directory of your phone.

3. Turn off your device. It can boot into bootloader/fastboot mode by pressing the Volume Up and Down key and power button simultaneously. (You could also try ROM Manager)

4. Go to “Recovery mode” using the volume keys, and then tap the power button to select. ClockworkMod Recovery will open.

5. In ClockworkMod Recovery (CWM), follow the steps below:

– Wipe the data/factory reset

– Wipe the cache partition

– Wipe Dalvik Cache

– Wipe Battery Stats

6. From the main screen, choose “install zip from sdcard” > “choose zip from sdcard” and then select the copied .zip file and click “Yes.. To confirm.

Take a couple of minutes before the installation is completed. Then Reboot then the Galaxy Nexus should be running the latest version of “JELLY BEAN”.

How do I update Galaxy Nexus to Takju 4.1 (JRN84D) up to 4.1.1 (JRO03C)

1. Download takju-JRO03C-from-JRN84D OTA update.

2. Transfer the edfff6d328f1.signed-takju-JRO03C-from-JRN84D.edfff6d3.zip file to the root directory of your phone.

Then, go to Step 3, 4, 5 6, as mentioned above.

update – Once you have updated to 4.1.1 You can think about installing the most recent version of Radio/Baseband of XXLF1for Android 4.1.1 (Takju). You can either flash the radio-maguro-i9250-xxlf1.img using a toolkit or simply flash the cwm-radio-i9250-xxlf1.zip file using ClockworkMod Recovery. It’s tested and works. [Thanks XDA]

Restorethe backup now to restore all the apps you have installed and their information.

Update4.1.1 : The latest official 4.1.1 OTA package for GSM Yakju Galaxy Nexus is now available! (Thanks to efrant). Now, YAKJU devices that are running Android 4.0.4 and build number IMM76I are able to download this Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean update by using ClockworkMod Recovery.

Prior to flashing be sure that the Radio/Baseband version of your device has been set to the XXLA2 version..

How to update Galaxy Nexus from Yakju 4.0.4 ( IMM76I) to 4.1.1 (JRO03C)

1. Download yakju-JRO03C-from-IMM76I OTA update.

2. Transfer the f946a4120eb1.signed-yakju-JRO03C-from-IMM76I.f946a412.zip file to the root directory of your phone.

Then, go to Step 3, 4, 5 6, as mentioned above.
