YU Yureka with Cyanogen OS, 64-bit Octa-Core CPU, 4G LTE launched in India for Rs. 8999

In a press conference held in Delhi this morning, Micromax launched its much anticipated brand of smartphones called YU in India. Yurekais one of the very first smartphone from the YU running CyanogenMod OS 11, priced with a hefty price tag of the price of Rs. 8,999. The YU brand smartphone ‘YUREKA’ will only be available through Amazon India and registration for the device begin on December 19th between 2pm and 3PM at Amazon.in. The phone will go for sale during February, the week following January. YUreka is a smartphone that looks promising with regard to the hardware it comes with, Cyanogen OS, privacy features, customisation and after-sales service, regular OTA updates each month, and its price of the price of Rs. 8,999. It’s believed to be a formidable rival to the recently announced Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G.

YU’s branded ” Yureka” (AO5510) features the 5.5″ HD-IPS screen (720p) with 267ppi. It it is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 (MSM8939) 1.5GHz Octa-Core 64-bit processor. Adreno 405 GPU, and runs on the well-known and unbloated Cyanogen OS 11 based on Android 4.4.4. Yureka comes with 4G LTE, DDR3, and 64-bit architecture, which can provide up to 16 EXA bytes of RAM. It comes with an 13MP rear camera that features a Sony IMX135 CMOS sensor. It also has f/2.2 aperture and autofocus, and LED flash. It can record video at 1080p at 30 frames per second and 720p slow-mo videos at 60fps , and time-lapse mode. The front camera has 5MP and can be used to take high quality selfies.

Yureka is compatible with Dual-SIM and features two GB of DDR3 memory, and 16GB of internal storage, and expandable memory up to 32GB using a microSD card. It comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for screen protection, and an optimised battery with 2500mAh capacity. The connectivity options include Dual SIM (Micro SIM), 3G, 4G (LTE TDD B40 2300MHz, and LTE FDD B3 1800MHz) and WiFi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, FM Radio and GPS. The design of the phone is elegant, with a size of 6mm on both sides, and 8.5mm in the middle. It is available with Moonstone Grey colour!

The most impressive thing about HTML0 is that it has an unlockable bootloader. YU will make kernel source available and the warranty of your device won’t expire even if you root it. The company claims that it will provide a free repair or replacement service right on your doorstep, which sounds like a dream to be true. According to the company the device is powered by Cyanogen OS will also get OTA monthly updates.

YU’s Yureka looks really great on paper, as it has top-of-the-line specifications that are like Vivo’s flagship X5Max, but with a remarkably affordable price of just the price of Rs. 8,999.
